Education as Most Important Factor in Developing Country
Education is the single most important factor in the development of a country. Do you agree? What is actual value of education today? Nowadays, when our world is constantly developing in the area of economics, and other fields thereââ¬â¢sà a strong growing need in experienced and talented peopleà who will be able to make significant contribution in the economy of the countryââ¬â¢s life. Thus, it is important to say thatà education plays a significant role in the development process of countries. To answer on my question, firstly I would like to point the importance of education. In real life, people can live without education but education is the quickest and surest way to help people improve their knowledge and to gain experiences. Basic education provides people with a greater understanding of basic daily information about life as well as of their own potential. Higher educationà is not obligatory for young people. Thus, it means that they have only their experience to learn from. But those people who are longing for obtaining high positions in the society are required to have good knowledge basis. How can education improve development of country? A country with a strong educational system can more definitely develop in the future. In developing countries, improving people's knowledge is very important because their attitude can be influenced by the development of the country. There's a famous saying ââ¬Å"If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, if you teach the man to fish you feed him for a lifetimeâ⬠.Education is long term investment. Maybe we will not be able to see the results imediately, but it is essential to ensure growth and prosperity. Also it is important to put quality before quantity ââ¬â the goal must be for all education programmes to be of the highest quality, with the number of places tailored to the needs of the labour market. It is not the quantity of graduates that determines our competitiveness, but the qual ity of our programmes from an international perspective. With a good educational system, people can study easily, they can understand the newest technology, and then they can improve their lives. However, even with good educational system in one country, problem may arise. It is so called ââ¬Å"brain drainâ⬠. It is defined as the loss of skilled intellectual and technical labor through the movement of such labor to more favorable geographic, economic, or professional environments. Individuals that are educated in developing country may move to the developed countries such as USA, England, and countinue their lifes there. In this case, education cannot bring any good for country where young people are more concerned about their own prosperity than prosperity of their native country. Although there are a lot of other factors that are of huge importance for growth of one country, I agree that education is the single most important development in the country. Of course, every person possesses good qualities along with bad ones, butà higher education gives us an opportunityà to develop our better sides by providing our society with members, whose aim is to contribute to the countryââ¬â¢s development.
The Mayans â⬠Popol Vuh Summary
The Mayans ââ¬â A Basic Summary on Popol Vuh and Xibalba Information on the Popol Vuh The Popol Vuh is one of the only remaining texts we have of ancient Mayan cultures. It is, for lack of a better word, their bible. In English its most direct translation is ââ¬Å"Book of the Matâ⬠but it can translate into its more meaningful name, ââ¬Å"Book of the Communityâ⬠. It encompasses a variety of stories and legends as well as a history of the mayan ancestors. Its most famous story is the creation myth of the Hero Twins. This myth explains how two abandoned twins ventured into the Mayan underworld called Xibalba and defeated the ââ¬Å"badâ⬠Gods and the arrogant Xibalbans people. They then ascended out of Xibalba to the sky where they became the sun and the moon. This book was an important source of cultural heritage to the Mayan people and the religions they practiced. It explains the importance of Maya as a divine place and culture, as well as introduces important fig ures such as the Maize God. After Bishop Diego de Landaââ¬â¢s eradication on Mayan literature, it is an extremely valuable source of information. Information on Xibalba Xibalba is to the Mayans what Hell is for us. It translates to something along the lines of, ââ¬Å"the place of fearâ⬠. However, it has many important differences. For instance, instead of eternal damnation in one endless fiery pit (aka: Hell) there are seven chambers. Each chamber is a different challenge or nightmare that you have to face. The Mayans believe a person has five souls, one of which ventures into Xibalba. Depending on how evil you have been depends on how deep into Xibalba your soul goes. Again, the deeper you go, the worse it becomes. Xibalba has cultural significance because it develops the idea of key gods, religions and practices such as the Mayan ballgames.

Changing Stereotypes of Arab and Muslims That Link Them to Terrorism Essay
Changing Stereotypes of Arab and Muslims That Link Them to Terrorism And Extremism - Essay Example Everyone has a tendency to stereotype in order to simplify his or her lives. Stereotypes are the maps of the world and aptly demonstrate the very human need to categorize. People like to stereotype to serve a fundamental need to preserve their own safety and well-being. Therefore, people end up making presumptions about persons and groups that say how they will end up affecting these people. However, sometimes that need transforms into a vehicle to elevate oneââ¬â¢s own status as compared to the stereotyped group. Muslims and Muslim-Americans are currently experiencing this very phenomenon. After the attacks of September 11, Muslims and Arabs have been subjected to increased scrutiny and racial profiling at airports. In a poll carried out by the Boston Globe, 71 percent black people and 57 percent whites expressed the belief that Arabs and Muslims should be put through special, intensive security checks before they are allowed to board aeroplanes. ("Terror fears hamper,â⬠) It is considered quite acceptable and even necessary to hold Muslims without any explanation and then subject them to hours of questioning and even arrest without a cause. The American Civil Liberties Union is sorting out many lawsuits of the kind. Mike Gallagher, a Fox News radio host has even gone on to say that, "Its time to have a Muslims check-point line in America's airports and have Muslims be scrutinized. You better believe it, its time." (Cowan, 2001) ("Fox news airs,â⬠) In a sixth-grade social studies book, the Muslim culture is portrayed as oppressive and patriarchal. The book displays pictures of camels, tents and veiled women. The authors say that Muslim girls do not go to school and women cannot own property. In the end, the authors ask, ââ¬Å"Would you like to be a Muslim woman in the Middle East?â⬠There are many examples like this one, of stereotyping Muslims, based on the culture and traditions prevalent in one country. (Shaheen) It is a glaring assumption to presume that Muslim women

Negotiations - Getting to Yes Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Negotiations - Getting to Yes - Essay Example This paper tends to explain the significance of the theme stated above on the grounds of practical evidences and the findings of scholarly volumes on negotiation. To begin with, a personââ¬â¢s point of view of a certain topic has a straight-line relationship with his behavior as an individual. The intensity of his responses and reactions to counter arguments in a debate of win-to-win contexts reflects how passionate he is towards his ethics or prejudice. Hence, being soft on the people is important while at the same time being hard on the problem so as to achieve the goal. Planning covers the major portion of entire strategic negotiation procedures. When a manager utilizes all skills, knowledge, and potential to create a favorable condition for negotiating with someone, the tactics he initiates can be termed as ââ¬Ënegotiation strategyââ¬â¢. According to Rojot, the first process of three-stage model of negotiation is ââ¬Ëgetting to know each otherââ¬â¢ including their starting positions, range, and limitations. The second stage involves the attempt to reach a settlement either through official or informal actions; and finally persuading other group for decision making (174-75). While considering the scope of negotiation in a disturbed atmosphere, it is important to see that the process of negotiation passes through different phases that create stage for analysis, understanding, and effective communication. Importance and necessity of interaction are also determined only if the negotiation process is identified well. To be more specific, on initiating a negotiation process, one has to determine the actual reason for negotiating an issue. Although issues are more important than people concerned to them, ââ¬Ëbeing soft on the peopleââ¬â¢ is also important. Otherwise, people tend to get defensive and refuse to listen (Chapter 3). On the other hand, gathering adequate

The Subculture of Poverty Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
The Subculture of Poverty - Research Paper Example One can accept any one of these positions or even a combination of the two (interactionist approach) in order to understand poverty. Though scholars have a common tendency to take either of these sides, in this essay, the position taken is one that follows the interactionist approach in order to leave behind the reductionism of leftist and rightist theories. To put the blame on the class division alone is like saying that an individual can make no difference in the society. Similarly if a position that the poor are to blame for their poverty is taken, it will be like forgetting the role of the social structures in creating and sustaining poverty. This is why it s true that ââ¬Å"the structure of society creates a culture of poverty among the poor, which perpetuates the structure of societyâ⬠and this in turn again reinforces the culture of poverty and so on (Blacksacademy, 1). It will be based on the understanding that the structure of society is the root cause and the conditio ning of the poor (by the culture created by that structure), the sustaining factor that this essay would look into the subculture of poverty. Also, this essay will prove that the negative attributes commonly associated with the members of the subculture of poverty are based on assumptions rather than facts. One visible sign of poverty is the presence of inexpensive accessories like cloth on the body of a person. In extreme cases, poverty can be visible on the body of the person as an impoverished state in the health. But the subculture of poverty is marked with more complex and subtle features. For example, it can be associated with ââ¬Å"families â⬠¦characterized by high divorce rates, with mothers and children abandonedâ⬠(Blacksacademy, 2). Poverty also represents the existence of people, devoid of sufficient food, material facilitates, community life, participation in the political processes of the country, and access to the privileges available to the ââ¬Ënot poorà ¢â¬â¢ individual. Apart from these physical manifestations, the most important social aspect of poverty is that it evolves itself into a culture of sort. Poverty is found to attain a historical dimension as well as a social pathology. Along with that, it has become somewhat hereditary, a family heritage. For example, in the popular poor man-rich girl stories in the movies, or in the rags to riches tales that have been written, the common theme is the same rightist view which proposes that it is the will of the individual that determines his/her economic status. But the culture of poverty exhibits a totally different scene. Once poor, always poor and that too, generations poor, could be the statement that could be closer to reality. In such a scenario, there has been a tendency to define a poor man/woman based on the so-called attributes associated with the subculture of poverty. Almost all the discussions on the subculture of poverty have thus been highly individualistic. The purp ose of almost all these discussions has been to prove that the subculture of poverty is an inferior culture. This can be seen in the common theoretical positions narrated in the following paragraphs. The website, law.jrank.org has stated that poverty is supposed to be a breeding ground of fatalistic views- ââ¬Å"

Stress Management and Its Effect on Efficient Work Performance Dissertation
Stress Management and Its Effect on Efficient Work Performance - Dissertation Example One of these is the distractions they get away from their work due to stress. In a recent study, Michelson (2004) noted that the commonest cases and instances of stress arise when the roles of employees demand that they have a lot of interaction with people as a means of serving the interest of these people. Employees whose work also put a lot of mental strain on them, as well as those who are engaged in the use of heavy and multiplex machinery have also been identified to be victims of some of the worse cases of stress (McIntosh, 2011). Sadly, even though it is generally appreciated that stress is a major hindrance to successful organisational running, not much has been done by way of managing stress among workers. Coldwater, Mohl, Denny and Mote (2012) blame this situation on the wrong identification and classification of the nature of stressors that employees are commonly faced with. In another instance, Michelson (2004) pointed to the fact that the best form of stress management can only come when there is the right identification of stress that employees are faced with. Purpose of the Study It will be noted that the Administrative Stress Index ASI ascribes five major areas of stressors namely administrative constraints, administrative responsibilities, interpersonal relations, intrapersonal conflicts, and role expectations. As part of the problem of wrong identification and management of stressors faced by employees within the labour force, this research is being conducted with the purpose of using the Administrative Stress Index (ASI) to identify the commonest forms of stressors that employees within three major labour forces namely the education, health and security sectors face in the delivery of their duties. Having used the ASI to identify the types of stress, a questionnaire that seeks to classify the stress management mechanisms used by workers will then be used. This purpose of the study can be noticed to be multi-variant in the sense that it will make it possible to collect sufficient data on all possible stressors that come with the delivery of administrative roles within the education, health and security sectors. The purpose of the study also encompasses stress management of specific stressor. This study is therefore being conducted as an opener to the issue of corporate management of stress by first focusing on the identification of stressors. Aim and Objectives The purpose of the study will be achieved with the aim of identifying different forms of stressors and how they are managed within the educational, health and security sectors. This can however be seen as a very broad and generalised goal, that cannot be achieved by performing only a single task or duty. The aim of the study has therefore been broken down into specific objectives, which signify the very specific tasks that will be undertaken to bring about the achievement of the research aim. The specific objectives of the study are thus given below. To achieve t he research aim therefore, the researcher has a responsibility of achieving all the specific objectives. 1. To identify various forms of stressors with different categories of jobs in the educational, health and security sectors. 2. To ascertain the different forms of stress management mechanisms that work best with each category of stressors identified. 3. To examine the impact and effectiveness of stress manage

UK's over-Reliance on Deregulation and Current Economic Crisis Essay
UK's over-Reliance on Deregulation and Current Economic Crisis - Essay Example Debt accumulated in the deregulated industry of the United Kingdom through the rising acknowledgment on the amount of bad debt in the system was much bigger than that it was previously presumed to be. Sequentially, confusion arose amongst the United States financial regulators concerning the approach to be used to react to the increasing number of borrowing defaults. Reluctantly driven to make mortgage corporations Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac public, they suddenly swapped to permitting prominent investment banks Lehman Brothers to fold (Kilmister, 2008). 3. Crisis in European banking system The European banking system deteriorated into a downturn in three ways. Firstly, the intensifying tide of bad balances put the banks at risk of bankruptcy. Secondly, the clear change in the Federal Reserve policy from the previous save from bear sterns formed a panic in the inert-bank borrowing market. The United Kingdom was doubtful on which banks could withstand the bad debts and stopped the lend ing services that they offered, leading to an entire market seize up. Thirdly, stock market financial speculators also dreaded losses, hence drawing back from their shares. Bank regulation is grounded on the notion of borrowings can just be a definite amount of bank capital and such a situation is bound to go through a substantial decline in shares and ultimately reduce capital by a great extent. Bank borrowing in the European market decreased significantly ending in further risks of the stability of the financial system in the United Kingdom. While these issues were mainly experienced the US and UK only, the real estate sector shot up, and bank deregulation had been particularly strong in continental Europe....This paper aims to establish set of necessary measures, that should be taken by the government in order to to battle the ramifications of the economic Crisis in the UK. It is argued in the paper, that the level of deregulation in the monetary sectors of the UK had aggravated the economic impacts of the crisis. Financial modernization has enhanced liquidity and facilitated investors to spread risk of venturing in the financial sector through intercontinental diversification. The disadvantage of the approach is that worldwide implications of the present crisis are more reflective of past economic depressions. The spending cutbacks by the government were observed to be essential by contrasting the economiesââ¬â¢ of United Kingdom with Greece and Ireland. Outside the Euro market, the United Kingdom faces a much superior flexibility on other financial markets apart from the bond markets. It is apparent that the objective of the government was to have the least level of state participation in the economic sector and provide subsidies that could be used to reinstate commercial and central banks to profitability positions, in anticipation of a rapid sale of the governmentââ¬â¢s ventures. The new regulatory protections rushed by the UK`s government have been implemented with the aim of preventing the outburst of another financial crisis. The new policies enacted by the governments have established an economy not ready for a financial crisis. The policies have created room for perhaps a much worse crisis in the future.
